Johnna L. Kijowski is an Associate Attorney with Vandeveer Garzia. She focuses her practice in the areas of defense litigation, including First-Party Personal Injury Protection, Third-Party automobile negligence, and other general civil litigation matters.
Johnna received her Juris Doctor with a concentration in litigation from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. While in law school, Johnna was an associate editor for the WMU Cooley Journal of Practical & Clinical Law, and earned the Book Award for her academic performance in Pretrial Skills. She also interned for a year with the Washtenaw County Prosecuting Attorney as a legal clerk in the Appellate Division.
Prior to joining Vandeveer Garzia, Johnna worked for a local law firm, practicing in its Warranty and Commercial Litigation and Discovery Law groups, with primary focus on consumer automotive warranty defense. There, Johnna represented Ford Motor Company’s Office of General Counsel, in pre-litigation breach of warranty claims, and then went on to practice as global counsel for General Motors, handling its breach of warranty matters in multiple jurisdictions across the United States.
Johnna is also a trained general civil mediator under MCR 2.411, and previously held the position of District Court Civil Mediation Coordinator for Oakland Mediation Center, where she managed all civil cases referred to mediation throughout multiple Oakland County District Courts.
